LET’S GET READY TO RUMBLE!

FISH IN YOUR TANK

The genus name is derived from the combination of the name Allen in dedication to Australian taxonomist George Allen, and Greek word Batrachus, meaning frog, hence the genus name Allenbatrachus. The species name is grunniens, which means “the grunter”, owing to the unusual sound they create when threatened. In fact, this grunting sound is really audible. Try catching one and you can clearly hear the grunting of this Fish as the sound resonates from your aquarium. Honestly, “grunting” is a polite way of describing the deep rumbling sound it makes. The sound they create sounds more gastronomical, if you ask me.
