CARE AFTER SURGERY
Even though a Cat might already be out of the woods, we still need to make sure that the stomach goes back to its normal function after the surgery.
Post-operative care means making sure the Cat did not have access to food and water, and was not given any oral medication for the next 24 hours.
After one day, water can finally be offered. Once the Cat can drink and eat on their own, intravenous fluids can be gradually discontinued.
Maintenance fluids are given intravenously.
There are medications that might need to be administered thereafter, along with a prescribed diet and motility modifiers to control vomiting or encourage passage of stools.
