ANOREXIA VS. ANOREXIA NERVOSA

The word anorexia should not be used interchangeably with the term anorexia nervosa, which is an eating disorder.

Anorexia can exist as a symptom in humans without the presence of an eating disorder. Different conditions can lead to anorexia as a manifestation, such as during chemotherapy or when a person has appendicitis.
