Providing sanctuary

Christine Askew, a psychologist by training and an online therapist, has cared for Dogs and Cats all her life. When she arrived at Dumaguete in 2015 with her husband Robie, she was so distressed by the state of community animals in the area that she couldn’t think of staying unless she did something to help.

She then set up Dumaguete Animal Sanctuary in 2019, along with her husband and three other board members. They rescue mainly Dogs in critical condition, rehabilitate them, and find suitable homes for them. Their ultimate aim is to reduce the population of community animals through trapneuter-release programs.
