ANIMAL WELFARE VS. ANIMAL RIGHTS

ADVOCATE

Many of the organizations on this list promote animal welfare, not animal rights. According to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, an animal rights organization, the main difference between the two is where one stands on the use of animals. Animal welfare allows for the use of animals under “humane” conditions, while animal rights means animals are not to be used for “food, clothing, entertainment, or experimentation” at all.
