TESTING THE WATERS

As I’ve experienced in the past, it can be nervewracking to realize that an unfamiliar Dog who is trying to be friendly or is aggressively testing boundaries is mouthing or nipping your hand, arms, or legs. This is why it’s a good idea to make sure that you ask one of his or her family members about her temperament, and what may be the best way to approach the unfamiliar Dog.

If there are no family members to consult, it’s best to back away slowly and disengage – your safety must always come first.
