CRISIS AVERTED

I was determined to not give up on the patient that night. After attaching the catheter eyelets on both sides and suturing them subcutaneously to both sides under the incision line, I proceeded to wrap the whole attachment in a sterile gauze wrap, then I placed a layer of well-wrapped elastic on top (colored, to distinguish it as the cutdown, especially when other fluid infusions are in place already).

I instructed the nurse on duty to administer the medications and intravenous solutions on schedule. As expected, the Dog’s condition stabilized.
