As we celebrate Mother’s Day for the second time in a pandemic, our appreciation for the mothers in our lives have deepened and taken on a new dimension.

Many of us who live away from our mothers have not seen them in a year, or only on the screen of our phones or behind their gates—and they’re the lucky ones. Many have lost their elderly mothers to the virus, or to some other illnesses that have been a challenge to manage.
