Entertainment editor Ricky Lo passes away at 75

Veteran entertainment editor and television host Ricky Lo passed away last Tuesday night. He was 75. Lo was the entertainment section editor of the Philippine Star, a national broadsheet, until his demise. Susan Lee, Ricky’s sister, said € > of Lo’s memorial service will be announced later. Lo just celebrated his 75th birthday last April 21. Months before Lo passed away, in a personal chat with the respected journalist, he revealed that he literally does not go out of the house since Day 1 of the pandemic. He also avoided physical press conferences. In fact, he even warned members of the movie press to stop attending physical events because of the deadly virus. “Pero nagpapa-sikat ako sa araw sa umaga at least mga one hour mula ng nag-pandemic. Siguro ang pinakamalayo ko lang na labas hanggang gate or parking area lang namin pero hindi talaga ako lumalayo,” said Lo a few months ago, during a telephone conversation. (I get sunshine in the morning at least for one hour. I usually go near our gate or parking area. I don’t go far). Despite that, Lo was an active participant on virtual showbiz press events. A well-loved and respected personality in showbiz industry, Lo has also published books where he compiled his popular Sunday feature column in the newspaper called “Conversations With Ricky Lo.” During the pandemic, Lo was generous as he helped his relatives and other friends by giving food€> Ÿ € sharing health tips to his close friends. Lo served the entertainment industry for 50 years. For 35 years, he was entertainment section editor of the Philippine Star.
