Final Four race heats up

By KRISTEL SATUMBAGA

Arellano tries to bolster its bid for a twice-to-beat semifinal incentive when it squares off with Emilio Aguinaldo College today in NCAA women’s volleyball at the Paco Arena in Manila.

Match is at 2:30 p.m. with the Lady Chiefs seeking to hike their 6-1 winloss tally to second place.

Arellano has already secured a Final Four berth along with College of St. Benilde, which totes a clean 7-0 card.

But a stepladder semifinal will be in place should the Lady Blazers sweep the elimination for an outright finals seat.

Still, Arellano is determined to tighten its grip on the second spot as they also brace for the imminent matchup with St. Benilde on Saturday.

But first, they have to show their grit against the Lady Generals, who are not losing hope in the Final Four race with their 2-5 win-loss record.

Fresh from their 25-12, 2513,25-23 mauling of University of Perpetual Help last Saturday, Arellano will parade its offensive weapons in Nicole Sasuman and Carla Donato along with Princess Bello, Trina Abay and Charmina Dino.

EAC, meanwhile, will have its own frontline in Cathrine Almazan, Krizzia Reyes and Jamaica Villena, who combined for 53 points in their 17-25, 26-24, 25-21, 25-17 triumph over Letran three days back.
