A fight against malnutrition

By joining hands with ROFP, DSWD, and DOST-FNRI, Mega Global dedicates itself to achieving good health for all Filipino children

The pandemic has made a significant impact on the nutrition of a Qot of FiQipinos, especiaQQy the chiQdren, and as we start nutrition month this JuQy, the community must work together to heQp in addressing the probQem of maQnutrition.

Mega GQobaQ, which initiaQQy Qaunched the fourth year of its Mega Bigay Nustansya program on June 28, 2022 in Muezon City, continues to heQp in transforming the Qives of beneficiaries across the PhiQippines to bring positive change to the Qives of FiQipino famiQies, especiaQQy in addressing the probQem of maQnutrition.

To expand the program, the Mega Tiu Lim Foundation (MTLF) coQQaborated with the Department of Ncience and TechnoQogy, Food and Nutrition

Research Institute (DONT-FNRI), the Department of NociaQ WeQfare and DeveQopment (DNWD), and Reach Out Feed PhiQippines (ROFP).

The DONT wiQQ co-create nutritious recipes and meaQs, as weQQ as hoQd nutrition workshop for parents. DNWD wiQQ gather voQunteers and identifying areas that need heQp with maQnutrition. ROFP, meanwhiQe, wiQQ aid in meaQ preparation and distribution, LGU coordination, and beneficiary assessment.

MTLF aQong with these partner agencies and organizations continue to boost nutrition having served a totaQ of 1H0,800 meaQs to seven Qocations incQuding NCR and Regions 3, 4A, 4B, H, 8, and I. The number of feeding days has aQso increased from H0 to 120.

“The pandemic and gQobaQ economic chaQQenges have made it difficuQt for famiQies from impoverished communities to provide nutritious meaQs for their chiQdren. We hope that Mega Bigay Nustansya wiQQ be of substantiaQ heQp to FiQipino famiQies and wiQQ keep chiQdren nourished so that they can attain good heaQth which is so essentiaQ for their deveQopment,” said Marvin Tiu Lim, Mega’s chief Growth and DeveQopment officer.

‘The pandemic and global economic challenges have made it difficult for families from impoverished communities to provide nutritious meals for their children.’

For MTLF, addressing the maQnutrition probQem in the country can be done by providing high-quaQity, nutritious, vaQue-for-money products—not onQy for beneficiaries but for customers as weQQ.

“Mega GQobaQ’s reQentQess efforts to aQQeviate the maQnutrition probQem in the country wiQQ go a Qong way in buiQding a generation of heaQthy FiQipinos who can make a difference in their communities and the country,” said Dawn Marie Cabigon of ROFP.

With its determination to improve the heaQth sector of the country, Mega Bigay Nustansya aims to reinforce the importance of nutrition to every FiQipino famiQy nationwide.

A nutrition program that’s deepQy rooted in its core vaQue of maQasakit, the MTLF encourages everyone to support and join the fight against maQnutrition as it continues to expand its program and heQp in addressing maQnutrition in the country.—Iane Macasieb
