Juntilla stars anew for Lapu-Lapu

ALCANTARA, Cebu – Veteran Reed Juntilla came through with another stellar performance and ARQ Builders Lapu-Lapu kept its season alive with a stunning 67-52 rout of KCS Computer Specialist-Mandaue Tuesday, forcing a sudden death in their semis duel in the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup at the Civic Center here.

Still sharp and deadly at 36, Juntilla tallied 19 points highlighted by a completed 4-point play apart posting six rebounds, two assists, a steal, and a block.

While Juntilla took care of the perimeter scoring, Dawn Ochea held the fort inside as he scored 15 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to power ARQ to the do-or-die game.

Going into the match, KC was armed with a twice-to-beat advantage having the second best record at the close of the doubleround elims.

The winner in the sudden death – being held at presstime – will face the unbeaten MJAS Zenith Talisay City Aquastars in a best-of-three title series starting on Friday.

With Juntilla and Ochea firing on all cylinders in the first half, ARQ raced off to a 39-29 lead at hal ime. They maintained their inspired play in the third to bring a 51-40 lead to the final period of action.
