SAGUDAY, Quirino -- A mother and son died when the motorcycle they were riding collided with a fuel tanker in Barangay La Paz Wednesday here.

Police Capt. Alex Orbillo, chief of the Saguday Police Station, identified the victims as Dionisa Tagarino and her 20-year-old son-driver Joel.

Leah Joy, Tagarino’s 17year-old daughter, survived the accident but suffered a broken arm and a wound on the chest.

Dionisia and Joel, who worked as a security guard, were brought to the hospital but were declared dead on arrival.

Orbillo said the fuel tanker was coming from Rizal, Saguday, heading to Santiago City when it collided with the motorcycle which was coming from an intersection and exiting the national highway.

The driver of the fuel tanker identified as Rhonel Tampos tried to avoid the motorcycle but it was too late.

The Tagarinos were on their way home to Diffun, Quirino when they met the accident.
