Bright future for 2 Pinay gymnasts

By KRISTEL SATUMBAGA

The Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP) is also hopeful that its two promising rhythmic gymnasts will also rise and shine in the future.

GAP President Cynthia Carrion said Daniela Dela Pisa and Breanna Labadan have long been training in Hungary determined to follow the footsteps of artistic gymnastics world champion Carlos Yulo.

“We also have other gymnasts to look forward to, not only Caloy (Yulo),” Carrion said in Tuesday’s Philippine Sportswriters Association Online Forum.

Dela Pisa, a 17-year-old cancer survivor, made heads turn at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games in Manila after winning the gold medal in hoop event, as well as two bronzes in ball and clubs.

She has been dominating local tournaments like the Palarong Pambansa and Batang Pinoy.

Labadan, 15, has also been a Palarong Pambansa and Batang Pinoy standout and has competed in the 2019 FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics Junior World Championships in Moscow, Russia.
