Bulacan cops kill robbery suspect in gunfight

One of the two armed men who earlier robbed a convenience store was killed in an alleged shootout with responding cops on Sunday in Barangay Niugan, City of Malolos, Bulacan.

Citing the report submitted by Malolos City police chief Lt. Col. Ferdinand Germino, Col. Charlie A. Cabradilla, acting Bulacan police director, said a police team was immediately dispatched upon receiving a report of an ongoing robbery

in a convenience store in Brgy. Sumapang Matanda.

Reportedly, the suspects carted away three cellular phones and cash amounting to R200,000, and fled on board a motorcycle. The victims and witnesses were unharmed.

During the pursuit operation, two motorcycle-riding men fitting the suspects’ descriptions evaded the checkpoint established at Patubig, Brgy. Niugan.

The cops chased the suspects, one of them engaged the lawmen in a gunfight when they were cornered.

The gunman died on site while his cohort managed to escape.

Police recovered from the slain suspect a .38-caliber revolver with four live ammunition and a cartridge, a blue Jansport backpack with R177,840 cash, two smart phones, a keypad, and a bank transaction slip.
