LAL-LO, Cagayan — A backrider died while the two drivers were injured when two motorcycles collided head-on along national highway in Brgy. Catayauan, Lallo on Saturday.

Lal-lo police said a black motorcycle driven by Jerwin Bersola, 23, collided with another motorcycle driven by Jomar dela Cruz, 37, around 4 p.m.

Initial investigation showed that Jerwin, together with backrider Ruben Pagarigan, 40, of Brgy. Bessang, Allacapan, Cagayan, was traversing the national highway toward Magapit.

But upon reaching the sharp curve of the highway, Jerwin entered the opposite lane and collided with the fast-approaching motorcycle driven by Jomar who was northbound.

All victims were brought to Matilde Hospital by the Rescue 35 of Lal-lo, but Ruben Pagarigan was declared dead on arrival.

Jerwin was transferred to Toran District Hospital in Aparri, Cagayan while Jomar was moved to Cagayan Valley Medical Center in Tuguegarao City.

The two motorcycles were brought to Lal-lo Police Station for proper disposition.

Charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, serious physical injury, and damage to property will be filed against Jerwin, according to Staff Sgt. Victor Abiva, investigator on case.
