Sinas named Cebu City adviser on peace, order

CEBU CITY — Former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Debold Sinas will play a key role in this city’s affairs.

In his inaugural flag ceremony Monday, July 4, reelected Mayor Michael Rama announced that Sinas has been tapped as the city’s adviser on peace and order.

Rama sees Sinas as an asset in keeping the city peaceful.

“A prized catch. We cannot ask for more,” Rama said of the city’s tapping of Sinas.

Sinas is a former chief of the Police Regional Officecentral Visayas (PRO 7), whose headquarters is located on Osmeña Boulevard, Cebu City.

Sinas served as PRO 7 director for 16 months before he was named as chief of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

From NCRPO, Sinas, a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Hinirang Class of 1987, went on to become the PNP chief.

Sinas retired as a four-star general in May 2021.

Called to the stage by Rama, Sinas told City Hall workers that he welcomes his return to the city and vowed to make a difference by ensuring the peace and order here.

“I’m very happy to be here, very happy to serve the city,” said Sinas.

Sinas said his wealth of experience in law enforcement is something that will be useful in his role in the city.

“You can count on us that we will help maintain order in the city. All the things I learned, my experience will be shared not just to the police but also to the bureau of fire and bureau of jail,” said Sinas.

Sinas said he will sit with Rama to further discuss his role in the city.

“We will talk to the mayor and after that we can talk to the barangay tanods and see what help we can extend,” said Sinas.
