Rapid chessfest set

Grandmaster Joey Antonio and Grandmaster-candidate Ronald Dableo lead a big cast vying in the Woman Fide Master Sheerie Joy Lomibao-beltran Rapid Open Chess Championship set Sunday at the Open Kitchen in Rockwell Mandaluyong City.

Antonio and Dableo, who would become a GM if he reaches 2500 in rating, are among the favorites in a field that also included GM Darwin Laylo, and IMS Daniel Quizon, Jan Emmanuel Garcia, Ricardo de Guzman, Angelo Young, Barlo Nadera and Chito Garma.

A total of P110,000 in cash prizes will be up for grabs in the National Chess Federation of the Philippines sanctioned tournament bankrolled by former Olympian Lomibao-beltran in close cooperation with Ms. China Aurelio and Ms. Mimi Casas of Open Kitchen. (Kristel Satumbaga)
