KEEP OTHER ANIMALS AWAY

Make sure to keep other people and companion animals away from the snake. Pets often do not know that they should stay away from the Snake and may venture close enough to be bitten. Avoid this by creating distance between the Snake and all other members of your household, twolegged or otherwise.

If available in your area, call DENR’S hotline numbers. You might be tempted to call local police or the fire department to remove the Snake, but local authorities often deal with Snakes in problematic ways, either releasing the creatures in unfamiliar habitats outside their natural range, or simply destroying them. Moving the Snake to an unfamiliar habitat often drastically reduces the Snake’s chances of survival.
